How this all came aboutβ¦
Hi! Weβre Angie and Ashley, the heart and hands behind Blended Collective Co.
Our story began in 2013 at a community mental health center, where Ashley worked as a case manager and Angie as a therapist. The intensity of our work turned us from co-workers into close friends.
Our bond grew stronger over countless texts checking on each other and the families we served, car rides between home visits, and shared lunches from the local Chinese and Celina Wine Store. We soon realized we needed a creative outlet for our energy. Angie, who learned to sew from her grandmother, and Ashley, who had just picked up crocheting, decided to channel their creativity into making baby blankets, and thus, Blended Collective Co. was born.
One holiday season, our favorite candle companyβs Merry Mistletoe scent left us with headaches, and a spill of a plug-in ate the finish off Angieβs dining room table. Frustrated but inspired, Ashley experimented with pouring soy candles while Angie wrestled with her seam ripper. The first candles didnβt impress us much, but a few nights later, Angie had a revelation. She told Ashley, βThose candlesβ¦ I think we need to do that. Iβm either going to do it with you or without you.β Ashley chose to join forces, and our first batch of candles came to life.
From that moment, we knew we wanted to be more than just a candle brand. Our journey was filled with learning and laughter, like when Angie spilled Lemon Bloom wax all over Ashleyβs counter, leading to Ashleyβs memorable, βGet out of my kitchen.β Since then, Ashley has poured every single candle we've made.
Our first launch featured 36 candles, some in wedding decorations from Angieβs wedding. We learned the ropes of the business through tiny vendor shows and managing orders on Facebook. Despite the challenges, our passion kept us going.
In 2020, after Angieβs foot reconstruction surgery, the Sniff Event was born. Unable to leave her house, we invited people to sniff the new holiday line in Angieβs driveway, lined with Christmas lights. The response was overwhelming, and since then, every launch includes a Sniff Event, now held at our production warehouse with additional vendors.
From our first candle pour in November 2016, weβve held onto a few key mottos:
Head down, get back to work. No matter the competition or outside opinions, we focus on our business and keep pushing forward.
Put your heart in the right place and the rest will follow. Small business ownership has its highs and lows. We stay true to our values, trusting that the right outcomes will follow.
Our children will inherit this earth! Sustainability is crucial to us. We encourage customers to return jars, recycle everything we can, and constantly seek the best eco-friendly practices.
Quality ingredients. We prioritize clean, high-quality ingredients, ensuring our candles honor our original purpose while remaining affordable for our customers.

Fun fact: Both Angie and Ashley celebrate birthdays on back to back days in June which is why the annual Birthday Bash was created. Itβs an event to celebrate a year of hard work with our loyal customers.
About Angie
MASTER OF OPERATIONS
My elevator speech: Iβm married to Aron and we have 2 daughters - Wynne and Boswell. They are 2 very different ages and personalities so they keep me on my toes. Being a mom is my #1 best held title. I work full time as an instructor for the Department of Family Medicine at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. I teach students how to use good interview skills and active listening to better enhance their patient encounters - better known as Motivational Interviewing. I also manage 2 large multi-million dollar grants for our department in training residents in pediatric mental and behavioral health and training students and residents in best practices for substance use treatment.
When Iβm not working (which is hardly ever) youβll find me riding my peloton or on some adventure with my kids. We love to head to Columbus to visit some of our favorite people, take in a game (Buckeyes, Crew, Clippers, Blue Jackets), or hit up some shopping at Target or Easton. Or planning our next vacation (usually to the beach).
Iβm an enneagram 4 - Iβm super sensitive and get my feelings hurt easily. I also thrive on accomplishments and productivity.

About Ashley
MASTER OF PRODUCTION
I manage all production related responsibilities for Blended Collective, but more importantly I am the wife of Garrett and dog mom to Dio and Ruby. I am a daughter and a friend to many.
As a licensed social worker I serve as the Mental Health Manager at our local Head Start preschool program. I work full time overseeing recruitment, family engagement, mental health services and staff wellness.
When not working I enjoy attending Columbus Blue Jackets games, trying new restaurants with family and friends, watching trashy reality tv, or binge watching travel vlogs on YouTube researching for our next trip!
I am an introvert, happiest behind the scenes at Blended Collective.
